Project 2: Proposal

Idea 1: The year is 2058, overpopulation and overconsumption has brought the world to its knees. It is hard to get food and it is being rationed. I work the land with others trying to make fertile land for farming. I am leaving the rationing building with my shovel from a day of work and food for my family.

Idea 2: Overconsumption and bad environmental practices have made human survival on the planet hard. In 2026, a lab specializing in genetic manipulation has a containment breach and a viral agent that accelerates genetic evolution is released into the environment. This agent started to effect animal and plant life around the world cause evolutionary change in unpredictable ways. The environment changed and became toxic to us. Remaining humans now live in small atmospheric and environmental habitats of varying design. Outside of these habitats are the Wildlands, where dangerous mutated life is prevalent and the environment is mostly toxic to past natural life, but survivable if an individual is adaptable and hardy. The year is 2058, I am a caravaner transporting materials and other commodities between the habitat settlements, surviving in this harsh world by scavenging old world resources and avoiding these creatures.

I wear a scavenged and modified environments armor suit that help me survive in the Wildlands.

The theme would be a western post apocalyptic.

Project 1 Assemblage

This assemblage represents the idea of how first world countries like the US send their waste to third world countries; meanwhile, claiming that they are causing less environmental harm when in reality they are sending their waste elsewhere and still causing the same degree of harm. This tries to bring this reality to the forefront and shows how there are two different paths before us: change our methods and save the environment or continue along the same path and eventually suffer the outcome. You can interpret this work in several ways. To do this assignment we took 3D models from the internet and then combined them to form an image or assemblage in Maya.
